Who Invented Air Conditioners?

I'm not sure who gets the credit for AC units installed in homes....but they just might deserve an award of some kind for best invention.

Sunday as we were getting ready for church....I said to myself as I was sweating pretty much all over..."Self, it's getting warm in here and I don't think that AC is cooling like it should".  So I took my thought to my husband who always thinks I "exaggerate" a bit.  But as he checked it out...Momma was right. (Mommas are almost always right....it's the "gut" that tells us things most of the time!) So we have officially been without AC since Sunday. The unit died after 18 years. A new one was installed on Wednesday night. AHHHHHHHHH!
I love Summer and the hotter the better! I (almost) never complain about the heat, humidity, and sun. I'm not a cold weather person.  That all being said.....I do truly appreciate getting to come into the AC to cool off and count it a blessing and do not take it for granted. I'm grateful! So today I'm REALLY REALLY appreciating having some AC turned back on. I'm outside 80-90 % of the time in the summer and love it. Hubby and I walk late at night when it cools down somewhat.
Eastern Kansas is having triple digit heat right now! OUCH!  But I'll take that over 0 degrees anytime!

Our VBS is finishing up tomorrow. It's pizza and water game day after the lesson. We had a great week with a Train/All Aboard theme.  Our verse for the week was Proverbs 22:6....Train up a child in the way he should go, and he will not depart from it when he is old. We had great attendance (82 was our high) and lots of great stories, crafts, snacks, games, and teaching going on. I helped in the Kindergarten/1st Grade and they were active and busy, but oh so cute! (Next year my new grandbaby should get to go!)

No definite plans for the 4th of July yet. I do believe all the kids will be here so that will be fun. We have been enjoying sitting on the deck and listening to the fireworks already being shot off !  Our town is "legal" to buy and shoot them. We usually have around 5-7 fireworks stands. (Insert funny story! A few years ago at this time, my husband and I went for our walk and then our late motorcycle ride downtown. Little did we know we were basically going through a WAR ZONE! Firecrackers, poppers, bottle rockets, roman candles were being shot everywhere and every which way! It was all we could do to get home in one piece. Side streets were no better.  We decided from June 29-July 5 we will remain at home or be in the protection of a vehicle when going down town after dark!)

Hope you are planning a fun filled family weekend! Can't wait to hear what you all are doing!

Happy Belated Birthday Z

My oldest baby turned a quarter of a century years old on June 11. 25! Yikes! That one hit Momma really hard! He is still my baby boy!
We had a wonderful day together...I had my whole family together! It was a great day of cooking, grilling, talking, fishing, etc.
Zachary Benami was the cutest little tow headed boy! A person with very light (almost white) blond hair, "tow" being flax or hemp fibers. Tow-headed, along with fair(-haired) and flaxen-haired, is a tradional way in the English language to refer to blond hair or lightly-colored hair, having come from its old Germanic roots (which are quite rare). He had more spunk than his Momma and Daddy could keep up with. He has a will to get something done and never seemed to like to be told that he "couldn't". He always found a way. He is still like that today. His determination has provided success for him in many ways. He is first and foremost a Christian, but also a hunter, fisherman, country boy, electrician, KS State Champion Pole Vaulter, and currently trains race horses. He is the best son a Momma could ask for.

Happy Birthday son...We love you very much!

Proverbs - Chapter 22:6

Psalm - Chapter 127:3
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.

Happy Father's Day!

This is a very different Father's Day for me. My Dad is gone this year. This is the first year to not see my Dad on Father's Day. He passed away July 3, 2010. I miss him and miss getting him a card and something for Father's Day....a German Chocolate cake with Coconut Icing, a short sleeve button down shirt, a bottle of Old Spice.

You are on our minds and in our hearts today Dad! We miss you and love you!

My children are so blessed to have the Daddy they have. He is a great one and adores his babies. They treat him with so much respect. He is such a good Dad and most of all a wonderful Christian man who they can look up to. He got to spend the weekend with all of them and they spoiled him. We went to Cheesecake Factory for a fabulous meal. And Dad got a brand new ice cream machine as well as some pretty exciting news that he is going to be a Grandpa!
Thank you for being such a loving wonderful Dad and an awesome husband!

I'm Going to Be a Grandma!

Hallelujah! Praise God!

My oldest daughter and her husband surprised us early for Father's Day with joyous news! Daddy got a present with a football and a note attached....that every baby needs a Grandpa to call Coach! YIPPEE! We are so excited and just plum thrilled! They are expecting the little bundle in February! I can't wait to hear from all my "Grandma" blogging buddies about how wonderful this experience will be! I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the idea that "my" baby is going to have a baby! Wow!
My family made me contain my excitement until all in laws/family were told before I could share the news with my friends! But once I got the "All Clear"..... the press release was out. They think I'm a little over the top with excitement!

I can't wait to go shopping!

And so....dear friends....what should I just be called? Are you Grandma, Grammy, Granny????

Congratulations Lace and Blake....we are so happy for you and know you will be the most wonderful parents!
