Spring Break 2012

We took a few days off and went to Branson, MO for a little R and R. It was rainy and dreary but we stayed at the Chateau on the Lake so we didn't care. What a beautiful place that is to stay! I highly recommend it if you ever had the opportunity.

Back home and now it's time to get a little work done around here. The sun is shining and it's been a fabulous day! Hung laundry out on the line and went for a great long walk.

On Monday, school resumes....but not for this Grandma!!!!!!! I took time off to babysit Lily-Jo for a few days as her Mommy heads back to her Kindergarteners. NOT a happy thing for her......very hard!

Been there....done that!

Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What a glorious day it is here in eastern Kansas! The weather is currently a wonderful 79 degrees.  Just loving it! The girls and I did some morning shopping and soon we will head to have our taxes done this evening. Probably not one of our favorite chores but a duty and responsibility! We will go out to eat before so that is a treat!

Corn beef, cabbage, red potatoes, and bread will be on the menu for tomorrow evening. My mom used to always fix it and we so enjoyed that treat. Now that my Dad is gone and my mom is in the nursing home, I want to continue the tradition for my children. I miss those dinners so much and mine will not be as delicious as hers but I will try!  Do you fix the tradition meal known?

Lily-Jo celebrated her 1st St. Patrick's Day and has had a great day....she is such a good little shopper! Grandma can't help but get her some goodies!

Flip Flops and Open Windows!

Today is a break out the flip flops and open up the windows day! It is gorgeous! I'm loving it! I do believe Spring is here! And when the clock "Springs" ahead and the evenings stay light longer it really feels like it!

We debated on going on a cruise for Spring Break in a couple of weeks but finally decided to stay closer to home. We have that new little granddaughter to spoil and we would have to leave them behind if we went plus we thought we would save our moola and take a big FAMILY one next March.  We are going to spend that week off doing yard work and clean up from the winter. Darb's Graduation and party is in May so we will prepare for that.

I feel a little overwhelmed when I think of all the "work" to be done outside. I love that kind of outside work so I just need to get a plan on paper to get it all done.

Today we will babysit a few hours and then have shopping to do later and maybe a nice dinner out. It is definitely time to start the lists of "TO DO".

How about you? What are your plans for today and for this Spring?

Song of Solomon 2:11-13

King James Version (KJV)
 11For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
 12The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
13The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Water From the Well

When my nephews were young, they learned a song at a church meeting that I just loved. They would sing it and it was so special. It is particularly beautiful sung Acapella. Have you heard it?

Water From The Well

Chorus:
Give me water from the well that never runs dry
Give me water from the well that gives me hope when I die.
Give me water from the well that never runs dry.
And I will thirst no more.

Living water flowing from above
Through the Spirit of never ending love.
And I'm the first to declare my longing thirst

For the water that comes from above.

Repeat Chorus

Living water leads me to my goal.
Now refreshing and cleansing to my soul.
Truly I'm alive, and I know I can't survive
Without it, the pure waters flow.

Repeat Chorus

And I will thirst no more

The older I get....the more "thirsty" I get for God's word!
And I consider that a blessing!

John 4:14

King James Version (KJV)
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Happy 21st Birthday Haley Elizabeth!

I'm belated !
We celebrated Haley's 21st birthday (February 23) a couple of weekends ago and had so much fun together as a family. We cooked out, laughed, held the baby, and just got to enjoy being together. Then we went out for dinner at Ya Ya's EuroBistro in KC on Saturday night. Haley works at the one in Wichita so it was fun for all of us to see where she works. It was a very fun night! We love you very much Haley Beth!
