Snow Day...Thumbs Up!!

Let it Snow...Let it Snow...Let it Snow!!

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

I'm so excited...it's a "Thumbs Up" for a snow day!  Got the call this a.m. at 5:50!
This is a picture out my back door! Huge, fluffy, white flakes coming down. It really is a beautiful sight!

No flickers in the Tiki Torches for a while!
Roxie had to sneak in for a while!
So I was texting my teacher friend about how H A P P Y we were to be home today and we both decided to make the same soup.  It's from a former fellow teacher of ours who passed away a few years ago with cancer. It's pretty special to us. We call it "Marilyn's Broccoli Cheese Soup". I had fresh broccoli and that makes it even better!

Thanks Darb for taking my pictures!

It is so tasty and we had Garlic French Bread broiled in the oven! So good on this snowy day!
Here's the recipe...I really think you'll love it. Let me know!

Marilyn's Broccoli Cheese Soup
2 T butter
3/4 c onion
6 c water
6 cubes or t chicken bouillon
8 oz egg noodles (I use wide)
1 t salt
2 pkg 10 oz frozen broccoli (I use fresh)
1/2 t garlic powder
6 c milk
1 lb Velveeta
pepper to taste

Saute oleo and onion. Add water and bouillon until dissolved. Add noodles and salt and return to boil. Add broccoli, garlic. Cook a few minutes.  Then add milk, cheese and pepper.  Continue cooking until cheese is melted on low. Stir often.

Meat loaf, baked potatoes, vegetables, and wheat rolls for supper!

Have a great day! It's still just a blowin' and a snowin' out there.....hummmmmmmm I wonder about tomorrow! Smile!

I am so glad you were able to enjoy a day at home. We have lots of the white stuff here and are expecting more over the next few days. Kids have been out school around here for weeks. I hope you get another day tomorrow! The soup looks great. I am going to have to try this one. Blessings!
